BEAUTY | Seventeen Rock Hard Nail Effects

It feels weird; the last post I did was last Saturday. Well I'm back after a busy five days! I love painted nails, it's a shame my school doesn't. I had to hide my nails throughout the day just to avoid a teacher telling me to go take my nail polish off. So about two days ago I went looking for a new nail polish because I was fed up with the current ones I had. I went into boots looking for some pretty polish for my nails. As soon as I walk into Boots I'm always hit with a beautiful aroma of all the different perfumes. It's a shame they make me sneeze. I bought a few different ones and I will be reviewing some of them starting with Seventeen.

Initially I was looking for some matte nail varnish and I came across this one. I've never heard of this brand before therefore I thought I'd try it out. Black isn't the usual colour I'd go for but really do like this one especially because it's not as shiny as regular nail polish. This has definitely convinced me to have black nails more often; it's a nice little product for £3.99. I would give this product an 8/10 and would definitely buy it again. However it says on the back only 2 coats but I used 3 because I wanted it to be a little bit thicker also it is only a little bit shiny even though the description said it gives you "matte textured nails" but that didn't bother me at all. The concrete effect is very nice little touch to it and it dries really quickly which is always a bonus.

As you can see I'm not the neatest at painting nails but it was really easy to use with the size of the brush. These pictures were taken 24 hours after painted them.

White is the new Black

All white outfits are a big YES this spring/summer. It has been seen many times on the catwalk, from Valentino to Simone Rocha. And I love love love it. It's so simple but yet still makes such a big impression.
You can wear white with absolutely anything. I have enough white shirts in my wardobe but I am lacking on the bottoms.

So, I've been on  a look out for a nice skirt for an outfit. It's not a surprise that a  lot of them are out of stock in most sizes (it's always the one that you really want as well)! These are my favourite bottoms and one piece items from the high streets that I have found which are IN stock. Also I've added a bracelet, numbers 1, 8 and 9 are what I think the nicest of them all. Will you be wearing all white this spring/summer?

Stella Mccartney's lazy bag

Obviously work went into producing these bags but to me I think that it has such a lazy approach to it. Which I absolutely adore! This was part of Harrods top 10 bags autumn/winter 2013-2014. It has such a relaxed feel to it. The masculinity of the item is an ongoing trend throughout the whole collection. Personally I think anything oversized is a win win. Looking through the rest of the collection she clearly thought that bigger is better.

The inaugural issue of Miss Vogue

Vogue provided us with a double issue this month yesterday. Which included the first edition of Miss Vogue. Of course the leading model right now Cara Delevingne is on the cover as she is an inspirationn to many girls across the globe. American Vogue already had a little sister, teen vogue which launched in 2003, so I guess it's about time British Vogue had a baby sister.

The Miss Vogue look page only had outfits worn by under 21s, faces such as Karlie Kloss, Sky Ferreira and Chloe Moretz. Apart from the clothes what I liked was the section about being under pressure and four different students at the ages of 16-17 spoke about 5 different subjects which come under that heading.
  1. Image
  2. Drugs
  3. Social Media
  4. Exams
  5. Sex
It spoke a lot of truths and things that I notice within a day of being in school. Just like a lot of magazines it had a section of what to eat and drink to make your skin, hair, nails etc... healthy. I always read sections like that and have a great interest in them but never do as they say.

Editor Alexandra Shulman said "I wanted to produce an edition targeted at younger readers, created with your lifestyles in mind." Well... it featured a £890 Miu Miu leather bag, £275 Jimmy Choo sneakers, a £269 leather waistcoat from Urban Outfitters and Cara Delevingne rocking £425 knitted bra top and shorts by Margaret Howell. I don't know any teens who get that amount in their weekly spends unless you're a rockstar's daughter or something. However it also includes many great buys from Forever 21, Topshop and so on. The magazine is more likely to inspire, just like the main magazine does anyway, for those with an interest for fashion at an younger age.

I've heard that this will probably only released about twice a year and I doubt it will be a stand alone magazine. What do you think of the double portion on vogue this month?

Look like Miley

I think that Miley Cyrus has a very laidback kinda look. I think that's cool because I'm not one to dress up. There is a lot of crop tops, shorts and flats/ boots. I think it's weird because I used to love Hannah Montana when I was at primary school so I find it bit weird seeing disney stars such as Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens etc how they are now. I mean when I saw the advert for Springbreakers I was like woah, you don't see that in High School Musical.

Anyway... back to the point. I love her hair. At first I did think it made her look like a teenage boy but now I think it's pretty decent. She always decides and manages to show of her abs. Here are a few of her looks and where to get them.

Welcome to the 60s

Mary Quant
This is one of my faves along with the 90s. It was such a change from the 1950s as British pop culture took over. This is the decade when teenagers took over and created their own looks. Also designer Mary Quant who was credited for the creation mini skirts and hot pants. Although some may argue that it wasn't her.

The mod fashion movement threw away the pale colours of 1950s and replaced them with bright skirts, PVC dresses, floral hippy patterns and gogo boots. False eyelashes were also brought to fame as women and girls wanted to their eyes to look wider and brighter like Twiggy's. It was seen more as luxury though and only those with filled pockets had access to them.

Fashion was also influenced by style icon, U.S First Lady Jackie Kennedy who wore pillbox hats, clean suits and Oleg Cassini's items.

The Face of '66

Twiggy became the face of 1966 at the age of 16, she was internationally known as the first supermodel. Her underdeveloped boyish figure and big blue eyes, I think is what lead her to success and to be a fashion icon. An idol towards teenage girls as she brought out the best of the horrors of adolescence. Twiggy herself spoke out against really thin models and said that her own build was natural - "I was very skinny, but that was just me natural build. I always ate sensibly - being thin was in my genes." She retired in 1970 after four years of modelling.

Flower Power

Of course the 1960s is also known for its hippie trend. The mad colours and patterns were seen all over the show in the late '60s. I'm not the biggest fan of this trend. I think that there is too much going on. Tie-dye shirts, floral print maxi dresses, psychedelic and paisley patterns were the way forward. It is said to be the youths' way to showing "anything goes."
